How to Can Cherry Jam (June 2019).


A little bit sour, but also really sweet and especially delicious: that's what our cherry jam tastes like! Try the classic recipe and then a variation - for example, for Christmas.

The classic cherry jam

Ingredients :

  • 1 kg sweet cherries (net weight without stones)
  • 1 kg jam sugar 1: 1
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 vanilla pod

Preparation :

  1. Put the stoned fruits together with the gelling sugar and the lemon juice in a large saucepan and add the pith of the vanilla pod.
  2. Blend the ingredients roughly to make a compote.
  3. This should now pass through overnight, so that the flavors can unfold.
  4. Bring the mass to the boil the next day and let it bubble for about four minutes. The cherry jam must be filled still hot in the sterile preserving jars that need to be screwed tight and cool the best turned over.

Cherry jam with marzipan and amaretto

Ingredients :

  • 1 kg sweet cherries (weight without stones)
  • 1 kg jam sugar 1: 1
  • 100 g marzipan raw material
  • 1 shot Amaretto
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 vanilla pod

Preparation :

  1. Prepare the classic cherry jam and add the marzipan mixture crumbles, as well as the cinnamon and the amaretto.
  2. Then the jam should be pulled through and boiled as described above.
