Orange buttermilk Waffle stars with toffee sauce
A delicious Wafflekreation with which you can beguile your family and guests.
Ingredients (for about 10 pieces)
200 g of flour
- 2 g baking powder
- 100 g butter (eg from Kerrygold)
- 75 g of powdered sugar
- A vanilla pod
- 1 pinch of cinnamon
- Abrasion of a half, untreated orange
- 1 pinch of salt
- 3 eggs (size M)
- 50 g of flour
- 200 g buttermilk
- 40 g of cream
- 30 g fresh orange juice

- 170 g of sugar
- 60 g of water
- 75 g of coffee cream
- Possibly. whiskey
- Some butter for greasing for the waffle iron
- Something whipped cream
- Star shaped cookie cutter
For the dough, sift flour and baking powder into a bowl. In another bowl, froth butter with icing sugar, marrow of vanilla pod, cinnamon, orange peel and a pinch of salt. Gradually stir in the eggs and the remaining 50 g of flour. Then add buttermilk, cream and orange juice and stir in little by little. Add the flour and baking powder and let the dough rest for about 10 minutes. Then pour the dough into the waffle iron and bake until golden brown. For the toffee sauce, gently melt the sugar in a saucepan to light brown caramel. Deglaze with water and then add coffee cream. Depending on your taste, you can taste the sauce with a little whiskey. Cut out the waffles with a star-shaped cookie cutter and serve on a plate with some whipped cream and toffee sauce.
